Pastor Leon’s SOAP: Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer
January 1: Genesis 1-2; Luke 1
Scripture: Luke (NIV) 1:80 And the child [John the Baptist] grew and became strong in spirit; and he lived in the desert until he appeared publicly to Israel.
Observation: Earlier in the chapter (verse 13) we read that an angel told Zechariah that his wife would become pregnant and have a son to be named John. This child would prepare the way for Jesus to be introduced to Israel. But it would take nine months in his mother’s womb, then close to thirty years before his ministry would start.
God’s salvation plans are not only developed for the good of people, they are built around people. People are an important part of God’s plans. When God works His plan, He includes the time for people to develop and mature.
Application: God has plans that include me. I must go through each day expecting God to speak to me. I need to be listening for what He says to me. I need to rest in His perfect timing. He takes time to develop me to be a part of His plans. Sometimes I must wait as He is developing those around me.
Prayer: Lord, it is my privilege and pleasure to serve you! Keep speaking as I commit to keep listening. Thank you for teaching me to rest in your timing. Amen
