January 22, 2018: SOAP #2972: Exodus 3-5; Luke 22
Scripture: Exodus (NIV) 3:11 And Moses said unto God, “Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?” 12 And he [God] said, “Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain.”
Observation: Moses declared his inadequacies in going before Pharaoh.
Today, some would try to build up Moses to have faith in himself. Maybe Moses should go to some personal achievement classes. Moses needed a course on assertiveness. But…
God’s response was, “I will be with you!” Moses’s strengths and weaknesses did not matter to God. God was depending on Moses’ abilities, but on His own abilities! Moses’ greatest qualification was his total dependence on God.
Application: Accomplishing God’s assignment does not depend on my abilities, but on His presence with me. I might reluctantly accept His assignment with, “OK, I will do it, but You have to do it with me.” HEY, Leon, what are you thinking? He has ALREADY promised to be with me, ALREADY promised to never leave me or forsake me! “I can do all things through him who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13
Prayer: Yes, Lord. Your Word is trustworthy. Your presence remains consistent. My weaknesses are insignificant compared to your all-sufficiency! Amen
