March 09, 2018: SOAP #3018: Deuteronomy 10-12; Mark 16
Scripture: Mark (NIV) 16:5 As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. 6 “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. [“Come see the place where he lay.” (Matthew 28:6)]
Observation: The ladies arrived at the tomb early in the morning, wondering who might be available to roll the stone away from the tomb’s opening. They had brought spices to lay around the body of Jesus. Upon arrival they found the tomb already open. Upon entering they found a young man dressed in white and very much alive. Jesus was gone! “See the place where they laid him,” they were told. Check it out. From other scriptures we know that the grave clothes were still there, but the body was gone. (Luke 24:12; John 20:5-8)
Application: I am so glad we can “check it out!” Historically, geographically, and archaeologically we can check out to see if the scriptures are true. But the greatest truth can be seen in changed lives! He is alive! He lives in me. He speaks to me. He guides me.
Prayer: Jesus, they checked out the grave clothes and believed. I have checked out your words and your presence in my life. I too am convinced. You are my living God! You are alive in me! Amen
