Increasing Wisdom

May 28, 2018: SOAP #3098: Proverbs 7-9; Romans 9

Scripture:  Proverbs (NIV) 8:10 Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.
11 For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it….
17 I [wisdom] love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

Observation:  Wisdom in one of the main topics in the book of Proverbs.  In the first two verses above, we find that wisdom is more valuable than wealth.  It is more valuable than anything on earth that people find desirable.

Verse 17 shows us that we are not destined to remain with our current level of wisdom.  We can grow in wisdom.  We can search for wisdom.  Wisdom is findable!

Application:   Obtaining wisdom should be as important to me as obtaining wealth.  As I expend my time and energy for a paycheck, I should be willing to expend my time and energy to obtain wisdom.  If I spend 8-10 hours a day at a job for financial gain, and I am not willing to spend even 30 minutes or an hour in prayer and Bible reading, something is wrong with my priorities!   Encouraging my family to join me can result in all gaining wisdom for their lives.

Prayer:    Heavenly Father, you are the source of all wisdom.   Spending time with you increases my wisdom.  (Colossians 2:3; James 1:5) Amen
