One Way to Please God

June 23, 2018: SOAP #3124: 2Kings 10; 2Chronicles 22,23; 1Timothy 5

Scripture:  1Timothy (NIV) 5:3 Give proper recognition to those widows who are really in need. 4 But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God.

Observation:   People have a natural tendency to look for ways to please the one(s) they love.  If we love the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, then there should be no one we more want to please than God.  This passage shows us that loving God is not limited to Sunday morning at church.  Pleasing God has to do with how I treat my family.  God takes note of how I treat the aged members of my family.

Application:  My attention is often drawn to passages that show me what God likes and thinks.   When I find a passage that specifically shows something that pleases God, I want to pay attention to see how I can use that information in my life.

Prayer:   Heavenly Father, I want my life to please you.  Every day I want to do something that makes you smile. May I be an encourager for those caring for elderly parents. Amen
