January 29, 2019: SOAP #3344:  Exodus 23-24; Psalm 14; Acts 5

Scripture:  Acts 5:34 But a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law, who was honored by all the people, stood up in the Sanhedrin and ordered that the men be put outside for a little while. 35 Then he addressed them: “Men of Israel, consider carefully what you intend to do to these men
Acts 5:38 Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. 39 But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.”

Observation:  From among the religious leaders who wanted to put the apostles to death came a word of wisdom.  If what the apostles were preaching was of man, it would soon die out.  But if it was of God, they would never be able to stop it!

Application:  Recently several of our national leaders have taken strong steps to oppose our President in dealing with our southern border.  Their opposition seems to me to be motivated by their extreme dislike for our President.  But God has reminded me of what He had told me.  God will bring one unwanted alien into our nation for every unwanted child we have aborted.  As Pharaoh’s heart was hardened by God and his actions led to the destruction of Egypt, so God is using several hard hearts to bring judgment to the USA.

But it need not all be bad news!  If our government will weed out and prevent those wanting to enter our country with criminal intent.  If the church will reach out in love and acceptance and win the others to Jesus.  If individual believers will show God’s hospitality and love to all.  We will have revival!  God is bringing a mission field to us!  Let’s do this!

Prayer:   Holy Spirit, anoint us to turn this crisis into a great win for the Kingdom.  May many of those entering our borders come to know Jesus as Savior and Lord. Amen
