Villages & Individuals

September 25, 2019: SOAP #3583:  Ezra 2-3; Luke 8

Scripture:  Luke (NIV) 8:1 After this, Jesus travelled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him, 2 and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out; 3 Joanna the wife of Chuza, the manager of Herod’s household; Susanna; and many others. These women were helping to support them out of their own means.

Observation:   Jesus did not keep his ministry in the larger population areas, he traveled to the smaller towns and villages.  And in the same line of thinking, Jesus not only ministered to large crowds, he ministered to individuals.

Note:  The most well-known verse in the Bible (John 3:16) is from Jesus to one person, Nicodemus.

Application:   The one person I will meet at work today is as important to Jesus as a multitude gathered to hear a sermon.  It may be the person sitting alone at a sporting event to which I have driven a school bus.  It may be the person getting into the car parked next to mine as I am leaving the bus barn, or in the parking lot at the grocery store.

Prayer:   Holy Spirit, make me aware of the individuals around me that need Jesus.  Then guide my words to build bridges they can cross to Jesus.  Amen
