September 27, 2019: SOAP #3585: Haggai 1-2; Psalm 129; Luke 10
Scripture: Luke (NIV) 10:17 The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.” 18 He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. 20 However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
Observation: The “seventy-two” disciples had been given authority over sickness and instructed to tell people about the Kingdom of God. They returned to Jesus with great joy. That demons were subject to them as they went in Jesus name was no surprise to Jesus. He had been in heaven with the Heavenly Father when Satan fell from his place of honor.
Application: Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world! (1John 4:4) The One in me was in heaven when Satan fell! The One who sent me to minister in His name has complete authority over the devil. As I walk under the authority of That Name, I have authority in That Name!
I am thankful that Jesus allows me to minister in His name with authority, but I rejoice that my name is “written in heaven!”
Prayer: Holy Spirit, continue to reveal the truth of my relationship with Jesus. Continue to minister through me to those around me. Amen
