November 13, 2019: SOAP #3632: Job 39, 40; 1Corinthians 13, 14
Scripture: 1Corinthians (NIV) 13:4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Observation: True love is other-centered. Self-love destroys. Love works to makes us strong as we work to make others strong. Love works to makes us good as we work for the good of others.
One of the laws of the harvest is that we reap what we sow. When we sow love into the lives of those around us, we will reap a harvest of love.
Application: It is great when love flows out of a happy heart. It is great when feelings of love fill and overflow my heart. But there are times when love must flow contrary to feelings. The greatest love is a choice. It is a choice for the highest good of the other without consideration of how it affects me.
Prayer: Lord, let your great love flow through me. My love for you motivates my love for others. Amen
