Using Words to Glorify God

March 17, 2020: SOAP #3757:  Deuteronomy 32-34; 1Corinthians 2

Scripture:  Deuteronomy (NIV) 32:1 [The song of Moses] Listen, O heavens, and I will speak; hear, O earth, the words of my mouth. 2 Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants. 3 I will proclaim the name of the LORD. Oh, praise the greatness of our God! 4 He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.

Observation:  Yesterday I read from Psalms 40 where David used the wonderful ability God gave man to communicate great and wonderful truth with words that can be spoken and heard.  Here in Deuteronomy 32 we see that Moses did the same.

As Moses comes to the end of his writing, he leaves the Israelites with a song.  The people did not have a book they could carry with them containing the words of God—so Moses left them with a song.  Putting the words to music would help them remember.

Application:   God and I share a special blessing.  We both live in a house with Sharon.  So often as she is in the kitchen preparing a meal, or in the basement ironing clothes, or in the bedroom making the bed, or cleaning the living room, God and I are blest to hear her sing.  She sings the worship songs we sang at Bayview.  She sings the songs from the old song book.  She sings songs from Andover Assembly of God and some that we have recently learned.  And sometimes she sings songs she has written just for the Lord.

Prayer:   Holy Spirit, keep the song of the Lord ringing in my heart.  May the Lord enjoy being with me and may those around me know that I hold Him in high esteem.  Amen
