July 19, 2020: SOAP #3881:  2Kings 17; 2Chronicles 28; Psalm 46; James 3

Scripture:  James (NIV) 3:17 [The subject of this verse] … is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.

Observation:  What amazing and desirable qualities!   What is it that brings these amazing qualities into my life?  What is pure?  What makes me considerate, even when others are not considerate of me?  What helps me be submissive to the authorities God has placed in my life?  What helps me be full of mercy and good fruit?  What helps me to be impartial and not prejudiced in dealing with others?  What ensures that I am always sincere?  

So, what is it that adds these qualitied to my life?  The first part of verse 17 reads: “But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure…”

Application:  Obviously, wisdom from above is something I cannot afford to overlook.  It would be foolish to ignore such wisdom.   How wise of God to place such wisdom in the Bible!  I need to set my schedule to daily read the scriptures He has provided for me. 

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, my heart overflows with thankfulness for the wisdom you have made available to me in your written word.  And thank you for the many examples of wisdom you gave through your Living Word, Jesus! Amen
