Miracles may not be proof!

September 14, 2020: SOAP #3938:  Ezekiel 36-37; Psalm 110; Revelation 19

Scripture:  Revelation (NIV) 19: 11 I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war….14 The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. …
19 Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to make war against the rider on the horse and his army. 20 But the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who had performed the miraculous signs on his behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshipped his image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. 21 The rest of them were killed with the sword that came out of the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds gorged themselves on their flesh.

Observation:  In these verses we see that those who take the “mark of the beast” will be following kings of the earth joined with the beast.  They have been deceived by miraculous signs performed by the prophet.  They have joined together to fight the One coming from heaven with the armies of heaven.  The beast and the false prophet will be captured and thrown alive into the fiery lake; the others will be killed, later to be brought before the great white throne judgment. (Revelation 20:12)

Application:  This passage stands as a strong warning to be very careful of whom I am following.  Miracles are not proof that someone has God’s approval or that they are sent from God.  The better we know the Scriptures and have a current relationship with the Holy Spirit, the better we will read the warning signs that are always available when something is not right.

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, thank you for the scriptures and especially for the indwelling Holy Spirit.  Holy Spirit, I want to clearly hear your voice.  To walk in this world, I need your guidance. Amen
