No Desire; How Sad

October 06, 2020: SOAP #3960:  Esther 9-10; Luke 19

Scripture:  Luke (NIV) 19:3 He [Zacchaeus] wanted to see who Jesus was, but being a short man, he could not, because of the crowd. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way. 5 When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.”

Observation:  Jesus had stopped on his journey through Jericho, looked up in a tree, and called to Zacchaeus who climbed to get a better look at Jesus.  Jesus was big—He was well known.  Zacchaeus was physically short, but he wanted to see Jesus.

Application:  Today there are too many people for whom Jesus is not very big.  They know so little about Him; they have no desire to see Him.  Zacchaeus was lifted by a tree, but today Jesus is to be lifted by me.  His presence in my life should be seeable.  The things He has done for me need to be broadcast so others, like Zacchaeus, will want to know Jesus.

Prayer:   Jesus, like Zacchaeus’ home, there are many homes today into which you desire to enter.  May it be easy for people to see you living in me.  Let my life make you desirable. You are welcome in our home! Amen
