November 15, 2020: SOAP #4000: Job 41, 42; 2Corinthians 1, 2
SCRIPTURE: 2Corinthians 2:3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
OBSERVATION: How grateful we should be for the comfort God gives us. His comfort relieves suffering and even gives reasons for rejoicing. However, we should note that God does not give comfort only for our benefit, but “…so that…” we can comfort others.
APPLICATION: Daily God gives me insight into His word. It blesses me to know He is with me and talks to me. It brings me joy to see something fresh from the Lord. BUT God intends it to be more than for my benefit. He reveals His word to me “…so that…” I can share it with others.
I am thinking that all God’s blessings should be seen the same way. When God blesses me with some money, I praise Him for meeting my need. But God gave it “…so that…” I can find a way to bless someone else. Maybe it is only through my testimony to encourage them in their struggle.
When God blesses me with a means of transportation, I enjoy the freedom it brings. But God gave me that blessing “…so that…” I can bless others as they may have need.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I want you to be doubly blessed by the blessings you give me. First, I want you to be blessed as I praise and thank you for your work in my life. Second, I want you to be blessed as I bless others someone else. Amen
