April 21, 2021: SOAP #4157:  1Samuel 24; 1Chronicles 8; Psalm 57, 58; Matthew 8

SCRIPTURE:  Matthew (NIV) 8:25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” 26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. 27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”

OBSERVATION: What an amazing change happened at Jesus words.  From a storm that caused seasoned fishermen to fear, to “completely calm!”  No wonder they were amazed, asking, “What kind of man is this?” 

They were amazed at His power over the wind and the waves, but that was only one area over which He had power.  They would see His power over sickness, over provisions of food, over death, even over His own death!!! 

APPLICATION:  I have witnessed the power of God to calm a raging storm in the heart of a person.  From uncontrollable to “completely calm.”  God is indeed AMAZING!!!  There is nothing I will ever encounter that is greater than God. 

He responds to my faith.  God likes for me to believe Him.  God likes for me to depend on Him.  My faith activates God’s power. 

PRAYER:  Lord, I believe you.  I believe you can calm storms in the weather.  I believe you can calm the storms in me.  Amen
