April 23, 2021: SOAP #4159: 1Samuel 27; 1Chronicles 9; Psalm 141; Matthew 10
SCRIPTURE: Psalm (NIV) 141:8 But my eyes are fixed on you, O Sovereign LORD; in you I take refuge— do not give me over to death.
9 Keep me from the snares they have laid for me, from the traps set by evildoers.
10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass by in safety.
OBSERVATION: The people around David were setting traps for him. They were intent on destroying him. But the eyes of David’s soul were fixed on the Lord.
David knew the source of the help he needed! He was not going to let other things pull his gaze from the Lord! He was not going to be distracted! His eyes were fixed on the LORD!
He was not going to look elsewhere for help. Why waste his time by looking elsewhere for help? Others may not be able or willing to help, but David knew the LORD to be both willing and able!
APPLICATION: When I fix my eyes on my problems, they become bigger. They become bigger than they really are. When I fix my eyes on the Lord, He also becomes bigger. But, what a difference! He never becomes bigger than He really is!
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, you amaze me. However big my problems, you are bigger still. Amen
