August 1, 2021: SOAP #4259:  Isaiah 65-66; Psalm 62; John 3

SCRIPTURE:  Psalm (NIV) 62:11 One thing God has spoken, two things have I heard: that you, O God, are strong, 12 and that you, O Lord, are loving. Surely you will reward each person according to what he has done.

OBSERVATION: God said it, that settled it!  The psalmist heard it.  Now he was repeating it.  God’s one thing contained two things worth remembering.

One thing:  God is strong!  He is mighty!  He is the Almighty!  He is omnipotent!  Nothing is impossible with God!  No one can stop Him.  He does what He pleases—what He determines should be done. 

The second thing:  God is loving.  His strength is used within the bounds of His love.  We are the object of His love.  He cares for us. 

APPLICATION:  God has sufficient power to take care of all any needs, any health issues, any enemies, and whatever else may rise against me.  AND God’s love makes Him inclined to help me.  He may not take care of my needs in the way I think He should, but His way is always better!  He can turn a terrible defeat into a wonderful victory!  He turned His gruesome death on the cross into a glorious victory. 

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, it is wonderful how a little knowledge works such peace and joy in my heart.  Knowing your power and love builds my faith and gives me courage to face each day.  Amen
