SCRIPTURE: Romans 3:21 But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.
22 This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference,
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
24 and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
OBSERVATION: At 282 feet below sea level, the “Badwater Basin” section of Death Valley is the lowest place in the western hemisphere. Just 85 miles away with an elevation of 14, 505 feet is Mount Whitney, the highest place in the contiguous United States.
As great as the contrast is between Death Valley and Mount Whitney, it pales in comparison with the contrast between verse 23 and 24. Compare the hopelessness of all having sinned and fallen short of God’s glory to the ecstasy of being justified freely by His grace!!!
APPLICATION: My sin caused the low; His grace provides the high! I used to see everything from a “Death Valley” perspective, but walking with the Lord, I am beginning to see things from a “Mount Whitney” perspective.
PRAYER: Lord, accepting your forgiveness and inviting you to live in my life has given me a whole new perspective, one from your point of view. Troubles do not seem so bad. Joys seem to shine brighter. Amen.
