Pastor Leon’s SOAP:  Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer
July 18, 2025: SOAP #5706: Isaiah 32-35; James 2

SCRIPTURE:  James 2:22 You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did.

OBSERVATION:   Works without faith will not save you and faith without works is dead.  How important it is for us to grow in these two areas.  Faith in our hearts is always visible to God.  But faith, and love, and hope are qualities that cannot be seen by people until they are made visible by our works. 

APPLICATION:  The presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives makes us a new creation.  We find we now have a desire to help others.  When we by faith invited Jesus to live in us He came accompanied by the Holy Spirit.  We begin to see things we had always overlooked.  We begin to feel compassion we had not known in the past.  What we do about those and other things are the “works” that come our of our faith.  Our faith makes us attractive to God, our works that flow out of that faith is what makes us attractive to others.  Soon they want what we have!   The faith and love that God has placed in our hearts becomes visible to those around us. 

PRAYER:   Lord,  prompt me by your Spirit not to forget the works. May others see you working through me today.   Amen.
