SCRIPTURE: 1Peter (NIV) 2:21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.
22 “He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.”
23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.
24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
25 For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
OBSERVATION: Jesus, who had no sins of his own, claimed our sins as His own then died to make the required payment. His sacrifice for our sins and our healing is already complete. He died (past tense) that we might live (present tense) for righteousness, and that we join Him in heaven (future) when our life on earth is finished!!!
APPLICATION: I am not wondering if Jesus will really die for my sins. It is already a completed fact! He did it!!! On the cross, He said, “It is finished!” I live with the knowledge that my sins and my healing have been completely covered.
PRAYER: Thank you, Lord, for your complete sacrifice on the cross. I live for righteousness and to bring you joy and glory. Amen.
