SCRIPTURE: Psalm (NIV) 16:7 I will praise the LORD, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.
OBSERVATION: What a comforting thought that even at night our thoughts can be guided by the Lord. Even in our time of rest, we can be receiving instruction from the Lord.
APPLICATION: We can evaluate the activities of the day apart from the heat of the moment and the intensity of their surroundings. We can learn as the Holy Spirit directs our thoughts. We can ponder the events of the coming day; the Holy Spirit can prepare us with His divine instruction.
Both our conscious meditations and our unconscious dreams can be Holy Spirit directed! Praise the Lord!
PRAYER: Lord, thank you for your promise in Psalm 4:8: “in peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety.” When my mind is free from fear and worry, it is free to ponder your counsel and instruction. Speak to me before I go to sleep, during my sleep, and when I awake from sleep. May I awake from restful sleep ready to do your will. Amen
