Moving Forward in Faith

Pastor Leon’s SOAP:  Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer
February 12, 2026:  SOAP #5915:   Leviticus 18-19; Psalm 13; Acts 19

SCRIPTURE:  Acts (NIV) 19:8 Paul entered the synagogue and spoke boldly there for three months, arguing persuasively about the kingdom of God. 9 But some of them became obstinate; they refused to believe and publicly maligned the Way. So, Paul left them. He took the disciples with him and had discussions daily in the lecture hall of Tyrannus. 10 This went on for two years, so that all the Jews and Greeks who lived in the province of Asia heard the word of the Lord.

OBSERVATION:  The door of ministry in the synagogue was closing so Paul looked for another.  He found it in a lecture hall.  Obviously, God’s blessings were upon Paul and the ministry for in two years everyone living in the province of Asia had been reached with the gospel.  Verse 12 says God did “extra-ordinary miracles” through Paul.

Paul did not see opposition as an indication that his time in Ephesus was finished.  He looked for an open door and continued ministering to the people.

APPLICATION:  I need to be careful at how I look at opposition.  Opposition should not be seen as an indication that God wants me to move on.  It may force me to look for another open door.  If I run, I may miss future years of fruitful ministry.

Lack of provision is another challenge that can discourage us from continuing forward as God has directed us.  God is our provider and He provides in His time.  When I know I am in God’s will and doing what He has directed, I should use what He has provided to do the best I can.  The lack I am experiencing may be the opportunity for God to miraculously multiply the little I have!  Quitting not only robs others of the ministry God has given me, but also robs God of the opportunity to demonstrate His miracle-working power!

PRAYER:  Holy Spirit, guide me.  Help me see opposition through your eyes.  May opposition or lack of provision never stop me from moving on in faith.  Amen

A Special Ministry

Pastor Leon’s SOAP:  Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer
February 11, 2026:  SOAP #5914:   Leviticus 15-17; Acts 18

SCRIPTURE:  Acts (NIV) 18:1 After this, Paul left Athens and went to Corinth. 2 There he met a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had ordered all the Jews to leave Rome. Paul went to see them, 3 and because he was a tentmaker as they were, he stayed and worked with them. 4 Every Sabbath he reasoned in the synagogue, trying to persuade Jews and Greeks. 5 When Silas and Timothy came from Macedonia, Paul devoted himself exclusively to preaching, testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ.

OBSERVATION:  Upon the arrival of Silas and Timothy, Paul gives himself “exclusively to preaching.”  What was he doing before?  From verse 3 we see that Paul was supporting himself working as a “tent maker” alongside Aquila and Priscilla.  Now that Silas and Timothy were present, they could work to earn the money needed and Paul could give himself solely to preaching.

APPLICATION:  I am thankful for the servants of the Lord who work a second job to support themselves and their families while they are faithful serving in ministry.  My father worked as an automobile mechanic while pastoring a small church.

I am also thankful for the ministry of people like Silas and Timothy who give themselves to supporting those in leadership ministries, enabling them to put all their attention, strength, time and energy to fulfill the call of God on their lives.  They accept the vision of ministry; they accept the challenge of ministry; they personally accept the support of ministry! They have the ministry of enablers!

PRAYER:  Holy Spirit, bless and anoint your servants who labor to support themselves and their families while serving in ministry assignments.  Bless their sacrifice!  I pray that you would bless them with people who share their vision and accept the challenge of enabling them to work at it full-time.  Holy Spirit, show me where and how I can be an enabler.  Amen

Never alone!

Pastor Leon’s SOAP:  Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer
February 10, 2026:  SOAP #5913:   Leviticus 13-14; Acts 17

SCRIPTURE:  Acts (NIV) 17:17 Therefore he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and with the Gentile worshipers, and in the marketplace daily with those who happened to be there.

OBSERVATION:  Paul ministered to Jews, and Gentile proselytes, when they gathered in the synagogue AND  he ministered to the people every day in the market place!   He was the Lord’s servant wherever he was.

APPLICATION:  We, who are born again, and have the Holy Spirit dwelling with in us are no different!   We are the Lord’s servants wherever we are and available for Him to use as He sees best.

Whenever we are with God’s people, even if only two or three, we are available for the Lord to use us to pray for someone, to give a word of encouragement, or to pass along a testimony of what God has done for us.  AND when we leave that gathering of believers and go out into the world, we do not go alone!  The same Holy Spirit, who was with us when we met other believers, goes with us, accompanying us wherever we go.

PRAYER:  Holy Spirit, we go nowhere alone!  You are with us wherever we are.  Use us to make people aware of Jesus.  May the words we speak and the things we do be expressions of His love and concern for the world today.  Amen

A Ministry for Everyone!

Pastor Leon’s SOAP:  Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer
February 09, 2026:  SOAP #5912:   Leviticus 10-12; Acts 16

SCRIPTURE:  Acts (NIV) 16:40 After Paul and Silas came out of the prison, they went to Lydia’s house, where they met with the brothers and encouraged them. Then they left.

OBSERVATION:  Paul and Silas had come to Philippi because of specific leading by the Holy Spirit.  They met a small group of women meeting at the riverbank for prayer.  The freeing a demon-possessed woman brought them into contention with the city leaders.  Paul and Silas were “severely flogged” and put in jail with their feet in stocks.  While they were singing and praising the Lord at midnight an earthquake freed all the prisoners resulting in the salvation of the jailer.  They were now released from prison with strict orders to leave town.  But on their way, they stopped by Lydia’s house, quite probably the meeting place of the new church.

It is interesting to note, that they did not stop by Lydia’s house to get some help on their way out of town.  They did not stop to get some encouragement to help them on to the next town.  (I am sure meeting with other believers did encourage them.)  This verse tells us that Paul and Silas were the ones doing the encouraging!!!  Just released from prison, but they were encouraging others.  Recently “severely flogged,” yet they were the ones doing the encouraging.

APPLICATION:  Being an encourager does not depend on my circumstances.  It does not depend on the difficulties I am presently facing.  Just sharing my testimony often serves to encourage someone else.

Encouraging is a self-less ministry, putting others before myself.  It is focusing on the difficulties that someone else is going through.  It is giving a word of cheer, or of hope.  It is sharing a thought, or doing a deed, that helps lift a heavy load.  It is saying, “I believe in YOU!”

PRAYER:  Lord, today help me to see the potential you have placed in someone I meet.  Then show me how to encourage them to become all you mean for them to be. Help me lift their faith to trust You!  Amen.

Kingdom expansion!

Pastor Leon’s SOAP:  Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer
February 08, 2026:  SOAP #5911:   Leviticus 7-9; Acts 15

SCRIPTURE:  Acts (NIV) 15:3 So, being sent on their way by the church, they passed through Phoenicia and Samaria, describing the conversion of the Gentiles; and they caused great joy to all the brethren. 4 And when they had come to Jerusalem, they were received by the church and the apostles and the elders; and they reported all things that God had done with them.

OBSERVATION:  Church growth brought its own problems.  Now that the Gentiles were being saved, some of the Jews thought that the Gentiles should go through the ceremonial process of becoming Jews, they should be circumcised.  (The new non-Jewish believers were not becoming Jews, but by the wonder working power of the Holy Spirit in salvation, they had become Gentile believers!  They had been born again into a whole new family.  It was a family known as “followers of the way,” but later began to be called “Christians.”  In this family, Jews and Gentiles are all bound together as one.)

As Paul and Barnabas traveled back to Jerusalem to get an answer from the recognized church leaders, they reported to those along the way what God had been doing among the Gentiles, a report that caused great joy!

APPLICATION:  What God has done, and is still doing, among the Muslims in Sierra Leon should cause great joy!  Knowing that a similar outreach is soon to take place in Liberia should be reason for increased prayer!  God loves Muslim people!  Jesus died for Muslim people!  He loves them just as much as He loved us.  It brings great joy to His heart whenever a single person acknowledges their sin and asks for His sacrifice to be the payment for their sin!   Can we even begin to understand the great joy when hundreds and thousands of Muslims make Jesus the Lord of their lives!!!

PRAYER:  Lord, with all of heaven we rejoice with what you are doing in Africa. Your Holy Spirit is at work among your people to reach out to the lost.  We pray a special anointing on those leading the evangelistic crusade in the nation of Liberia.  Provide the money needed for printing SOAPs, Bibles to distribute, for food and lodging of those called to commit their days for this ministry.  Give them the great joy of winning people to your matchless name of Jesus!  Amen

Proclamation AND Demonstration

Pastor Leon’s SOAP:  Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer
February 07, 2026:  SOAP #5910:   Leviticus 4-6; Acts 14

SCRIPTURE:  Acts (NIV) 14:3 So Paul and Barnabas spent considerable time there [in the city of Iconium], speaking boldly for the Lord, who confirmed the message of his grace by enabling them to do miraculous signs and wonders.

OBSERVATION:  The ministry of the church in the book of Acts followed the example of Jesus.  It consisted of two main parts.  First was the preaching of the gospel of the Kingdom over which Jesus is Lord and King.  Second was the demonstration of the power and authority of that Kingdom seen in “miraculous signs and wonders.”  They did not always happen in that order, but both were commonly a part of Jesus ministry.

The combination of proclamation and demonstration are effective in bringing others into the kingdom.  Of course, the most effective demonstration is the changes in the lives of those who invite Jesus to live in their life as Lord!  But that often takes time before it becomes obvious.  Healings and miracles are more instantaneous.  People hear the proclamation of Jesus and they see the power of His presence demonstrated in a living situation!

APPLICATION:  In the gospels I see the ministry of Jesus; in the book of Acts I see the same ministry continuing in the early church.  AND through the reports from Sierra Leon, I hear the same thing happening today!

Muslim missionaries, as visited Sierra Leone will be soon in Liberia.  The SOAP team there is planning a 50 day outreach to Muslims, starting before the missionaries arrive.  God loves Muslim people!  Please join with the Liberia SOAP team in strong interceding prayer for God to bring a great spiritual awakening among the Muslim people!  Pray for God’s provision and anointing.

PRAYER:  Holy Spirit, today find me a vessel You can work through.  May it be easy for you to work in and through me.  Lord, I am feeling that today is Your day for Muslims.  Pour out your Holy Spirit on the believers who work and live among them.  Amen

Me too…

Pastor Leon’s SOAP:  Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer
February 06, 2026:  SOAP #5909:   Leviticus 1-3: Acts 13

SCRIPTURE:  Acts (NIV) 13:3 So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.
4 The two of them, sent on their way by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia and sailed from there to Cyprus.

OBSERVATION:  In these verses we find a word that Jesus often used when speaking about himself—the word “sent.”  That is how Jesus saw himself.  Jesus was sent by His Father and was here to do the will of the Father.

Here in Acts 13 we see Barnabas and Saul sent both by the church and the Holy Spirit.

APPLICATION:  Jesus told his disciples, “As the Father sent me, so I am sending you.”  (John 20:21)

There should come a time in my Christian growth when I understand that I too am sent.    Being sent means that I am under the authority of the ONE who sent me.  I am not here to do my own will, but the will of Him who sent me.  God has a plan for me today and I must fulfill His purpose.

First, Jesus was sent.  Then, Barnabas and Paul were sent.  Now, I too am sent!  We are sent!  He has given us assignments.

PRAYER:  Lord, continue to remind us that we are sent.  We are sent to the people we will meet today.  Thy will be done in our lives today as it is in heaven.  Amen.

Increase and Spread

Pastor Leon’s SOAP:  Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer
February 04, 2026:  SOAP #5907:   Exodus 39-40; Psalm 15; Acts 12

SCRIPTURE:  Acts (NIV) 12:24 But the word of God continued to increase and spread.

OBSERVATION:  Steven had been stoned to death.  Saul had traveled from city to city to take believers as prisoners to Jerusalem.  James had been recently put to death by Herod.  Peter was then thrown into prison from which he miraculously escaped, being let out of prison by an angel.  The social and political climate was not conducive to Christianity, but the “word of God” continued to “increase and spread.”

APPLICATION:  The above passage obviously could not mean that more Bibles were being printed because the printing press had not yet been invented.  There were very few copies of the scriptures available to the early church.  Yet we read, “the word of God continued to increase and spread.”

I think that the word of God was spreading because people were receiving the truth of the Gospel and it was being lived out through their daily lives.  The presence of the Holy Spirit was making the truth of scripture obvious to those early believers.  It was not the Word of God written in scrolls or books, but the Word of God written on the hearts of men and women!

If we want revival in our neighborhood, we must let the Word of God increase and spread in our personal lives.  We must let our neighbors see God’s Word in action every day!  They see us gathering in fellowship groups and churches, but how is the Word of God increasing and spreading in our daily lives?

PRAYER:  Lord, let your Word, first of all, increase and spread in me and my family.  May it spread to every day and every part of my life.  Then it will increase and spread where I live and where I work.  Amen

The Move Is On!

Pastor Leon’s SOAP:  Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer
February 04, 2026:  SOAP #5907:   Exodus 37-38; Psalm 19; Acts 11

SCRIPTURE:  Acts (NIV) 11:19 Now those who had been scattered by the persecution in connection with Stephen travelled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus and Antioch, telling the message only to Jews. 20 Some of them, however, men from Cyprus and Cyrene, went to Antioch and began to speak to Greeks also, telling them the good news about the Lord Jesus. 21 The Lord’s hand was with them, and a great number of people believed and turned to the Lord.

OBSERVATION:  It is hard for me to read the Book of Acts and not compare it to what is happening today in Sierra Leon.

Above we read that the Christians scattered by persecution were faithful to witness, but only to the Jews.  However, some began to speak to the Greeks (Gentiles) and found great acceptance.  The “Lord’s hand was with them” indicates to me that miracles were happening and drawing people to the Lord.

APPLICATION:  What is written above in verse 21 could be said about the SOAP ministry team in Sierra Leon.  The Lord’s hand has been with them the past two months as they conducted a nation-wide ministry to the Muslims.  Well over 100,000 Muslims have received Jesus as their Lord and Savior!

This afternoon I was blest to visit with Pastor Andrew from Sierra Leon over Facebook, and with my brother in Hawaii over a cell phone as Pastor Andrew recounted some of the miracles and we lifted our voices in praise.  We rejoice with each advancement, and we are encouraged to believe for Liberia who is now preparing for a visit from some Muslim evangelists.

PRAYER:  Lord, our hearts rejoice in what you are doing in Sierra Leon, and we pray for a continued move of your Holy Spirit across Africa and Asia.  This is your day for reaching Muslims.  Give boldness to every Christian to witness your love and grace, especially to any Muslims with whom they come in contact.  Amen

The Book of Acts: no ending, only continuations!

Pastor Leon’s SOAP:  Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer
February 03, 2026:  SOAP #5906:   Exodus 35-36; Acts 10

SCRIPTURE:  Acts (NIV) 10:44  While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. 45 The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles. 46 For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God. Then Peter said, 47 “Can anyone keep these people from being baptised with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have.” 48 So he ordered that they be baptised in the name of Jesus.

OBSERVATION:  In this chapter we read of the church being opened to the Gentiles.  It was not a man planned outreach, but totally originated by the Holy Spirit.  Peter did not have a prepared sermon, but when he started, he was interrupted by the Holy Spirit baptizing the Gentiles.  And since the Holy Spirit had baptized them with speaking in tongues, Peter led them in being baptized in water!

APPLICATION:  This passage has so many similarities to what God is doing in Sierra Leon.  After three weeks of outreach to the Muslims, and after several weeks of setting up and starting the Bible Fellowship meetings, they were preparing to return home.  BUT their plans were interrupted with a meeting set up with the Muslim evangelists who had come to stop others from becoming Christians.  When those gathered heard the gospel, about 30,000 received Jesus as Lord and Savior, even some of the Muslim evangelists!   The book of ACTS has no ending, just continuations!

PRAYER:  Lord, you are the same yesterday, and today, and forever!   The church you birthed  by your death, and started organizing and spreading in the book of Acts, is alive today and still growing!  What a privilege to be a part!   Amen
