July 22: Isaiah 36-37; Psalm 76; 1Peter 1

Scripture: 1Peter 1: 7 These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. …9 for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

Observation: Faith is such a wonderful part of my life. I act according to my faith. The foundation of my faith is the Word of God, and the foundation of my faith in the Word of God is the character of God. He is ever faithful and can be trusted.

Application: As I struggle to apply my faith to the various needs and problems I face in my every-day life, I must not forget that the goal of my faith is the salvation of my soul.

Prayer: Lord, this song still rings in my heart: “Thank you, Lord, for saving my soul; Thank you Lord, for making me whole; Thank you Lord for giving to me; Thy great salvation so rich and free.” Amen.
