A Sanctuary

A Sanctuary

Scripture: 1Kings 6:19 He prepared the inner sanctuary within the temple to set the ark of the covenant of the LORD there.

Observation: I have noticed that buildings being built today often take more time to finish the inside than the outside. A long time after they look finished on the outside, workers are still present and carrying in supplies for the inside.

The plan always was to prepare the temple for the ark where God’s Presence dwelt so proper preparation was needed on the inside. The inner sanctuary within the temple is like a person’s heart (the seat of our emotions, meditations, and convictions.)

Application: My heart is prepared by the application of the work of the cross. At times I may get stuck on the sanctifying work of the cross. I forget that God desires more than to clean me up. There is something He desires to put into my heart. His plan is to actually live inside me!

Prayer: Lord, prepare me to be a sanctuary, pure and holy, tried and true. With thanksgiving, I’ll be a living sanctuary for you. (Written by JW Thompson & R Scruggs) Amen.
