(Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer)
July 1: Isaiah 1-3; Titus 3
Scripture: Titus 3:8 This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.
…
14 Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good, in order that they may provide for daily necessities and not live unproductive lives.
Observation: In chapter 2 we read that we should be “eager” to do good. Here we have the instruction to “devote” ourselves to doing good. Devoted has the concept of being faithful and continuing to do good even when it is difficult or inconvenient.
Application: When I am devoted to doing good, my actions are an expression of what is in my heart rather than a response to the good or bad things that happen to me. The best way I know to judge what is good is to consider how God see it.
Prayer: Lord, I want my actions today to bring joy to your heart and a smile to your face. Amen.
