September 29: Zechariah 4-6; Luke 12

Scripture: Luke 12:33 Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.
34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Observation: Why give to missions?
…the opportunity to participate in God’s work
…the opportunity to please God
…the opportunity to sow
…the opportunity to help others
…the opportunity to gain rewards in heaven

Application: A major way one prepares for retirement is to save. A major way one prepares for eternity is to give. God allows me to store up reward in heaven by giving. God allows me to participate in His work by giving.

Prayer: Lord, you have given so much for me and to me. May I follow your example and become generous in my giving. Amen.
