Pastor Leon’s SOAP: Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer
October 25: Job 16; Acts 21-22
Scripture: Acts 21:5 But when our time was up, we left and continued on our way. All the disciples and their wives and children accompanied us out of the city, and there on the beach we knelt to pray.
6 After saying good-bye to each other, we went aboard the ship, and they returned home.
7 We continued our voyage from Tyre and landed at Ptolemais, where we greeted the brothers and stayed with them for a day.
8 ¶ Leaving the next day, we reached Caesarea and stayed at the house of Philip the evangelist, one of the Seven.
Observation: I am sure that many details were left out of Luke’s narrative of Paul’s journey to Jerusalem. We read nothing of the ship’s accommodations, nothing of the ship’s crew or cargo. But he included that Paul visited and stayed with the believers in the various cities. Note: Hebrews 10:25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Application: I need to take every opportunity to make contact with other believers. In those times, even though they may be short, I can both give and receive encouragement.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for those who encourage me. Use me to bless someone today. Amen.
