My Giving

Pastor Leon’s SOAP: Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer

November 2: Job 23-24; Mark 11-12

Scripture: Mark 12:41 ¶ Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts.
42 But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny.
43 Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others.
44 They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on."

Observation: Jesus not only paid attention to who was giving, but also to how much they gave! Jesus did not say that the rich were giving little, but that they were giving from their wealth. However the widow out-gave them all, for from her poverty she gave everything she had!

Application: My giving is important to God. He watches what I do with the money He has entrusted to me. How I use my money is one way I demonstrate my love for Him!

Prayer: Lord, I know you watch me give; may it bring joy to your heart! Amen.
