Pastor Leon’s SOAP: Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer

August 15: Jeremiah 18-20; Psalm 93; John 17

Scripture: John (NIV) 17:16 They are not of the world even as I am not of it.
17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.
18 As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.

Observation: Jesus was praying for His disciples. The life they had did not come from this world just as Jesus did not come from this world.
Jesus was sent "to" the world, but did not come not "from" the world. In the same way, after having received life from above, they are sent "to" the world.

Application: I have been born again with the Jesus life from above. Now I am sent to the world. Although I am being sent to the world, I should not see it as if I am being sent home. This world is no longer my home. I am sent to the world on a mission to invite others to join me on a journey to heaven.

Prayer: Lord, you have sent me as your ambassador to those around me. May I represent you well. Amen
