Pastor Leon’s SOAP: Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer
January 24: Exodus 9-11; Luke 24
Scripture: Angels here are speaking to the first visitors at the empty tomb. Luke (NIV) 24: 6 “He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee
7 that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.”
8 And they remembered his words…
Observation: “Remember,” the angels told them. …and they remembered! One can only remember what has been previously entered into the mind. If they had not been with Jesus earlier, they would have had nothing to remember.
Application: Remembering is bringing to my active memory what I have previously placed in my memory. If I do not read the Bible, I will not be able to remember God’s Word when I need it. The Holy Spirit will not bring to my remembrance what I have not placed there. It is like having a financial crisis and going to the back to draw out funds from my savings account. I can only withdraw what I have previously placed there. If I have not placed anything there, I will have nothing to draw out. Having God’s Word in my mind is MUCH MORE important than having money in a savings account!
Prayer: Lord, what a wonderful part of creation is memory! When my memory is filled with your Word my memory is a valuable resource. Amen
