Peace from the Lord of Peace!

Pastor Leon’s SOAP: Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer

May 19: 1Kings 4, 5; 2Chronicles 2; Psalm 101; 2Thessalonians 3

Scripture: 2Thessalonians (NIV) 3:16 Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.

Observation: In closing his letter, Paul ends with a blessing. He desires that they have peace. What a better place from which to receive peace than from the "Lord of peace" Himself! The One with the power to make peace, to enforce peace, to speak peace becomes the source of our peace! Paul’s desire/prayer is that this happen on a continual way, that we always have God’s peace. May it come to us all the time and in every way.

Then Paul reinforces the blessing with, “The Lord be with all of you.” This is in keeping with the blessing God commanded the priests to place on the people of Israel. (Numbers 6:24-27)

Application: I need not depend on the world around me to give me its peace. In John 14:27, the Peace-Speaker Himself promised to give me His peace. He is with me and in His Presence I find peace. Not only does He give me peace, He is my peace!

Prayer: Lord, thank you for your peace which you give to me “at all times and in every way!” Amen
