My Speech – It’s A Heart Matter!

Pastor Leon’s SOAP: Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer

July 14: Isaiah 19-21; Hebrews 11

Scripture: Hebrews (NIV) 11:13 …they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth.
14 People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own.
15 If they had been thinking of the country they had left they would have had opportunity to return.

Observation: One needs only to listen to a conversation to tell what is on the mind and heart of a speaker. Their speech gives them away. Matthew 12:34-35 tells us that the mouth reveals the contents of the heart. The mouth speaks out of the abundance of the heart.

Application: It is hard for me to control my speech by trying to watch what I say. My speech is a heart matter. The best way to make sure my speech is about good things is to fill my heart with good things.

Prayer: Lord, may the people who hear my speech easily see that my heart if full of you! Amen
