Humbled, yet Proud!

Pastor Leon’s SOAP: Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer

July 23: 2Kings 20; Isaiah 38-39; Psalm 75; 1Peter 2

Scripture: 1Peter (NIV) 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but not you have received mercy.

Observation: This is not what we were; this is not just what we will be; this is what we actually are right now! The following verses continue on to tell us that what we are should make a difference in how we live.

Application: I am humbled to be a citizen of the USA. I did not choose this as my country. I was born here. I did nothing to deserve to live here. I am also proud to be a citizen of the USA. When I wore the US Navy uniform or the US Marine Corps uniform, I was proud to represent my country. I wanted to do nothing that would dishonor my country. HOW MUCH MORE am I humbled, yet proud to belong to the heavenly kingdom of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I am a part of a holy nation; I am God’s special possession! My actions, my attitudes, my speech, should all be in keeping with who I am.

Prayer: Lord, it is my special privilege to serve you! Today, may you receive honor through my life! Amen

Pastor Leon
