Pastor Leon’s SOAP: Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer

September 12: Daniel 3-4; Psalm 81; Revelation 17

Scripture: Daniel (NIV) 3:21 So these men, wearing their robes, trousers, turbans and other clothes, were bound and thrown into the blazing furnace….
30 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the province of Babylon.

Observation: These verses are speaking of the same men! In the first verse, at the king’s command, they are being thrown into a fiery furnace which had been heated so hot that it killed the men who threw them in. In the second verse, a short while later and at the same king’s command, they are being promoted. What a change! It was a change brought about by God.

Application: The God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego is my God too! I need not fear what man can do to me. God may not deliver me from the fiery furnace, but He is able to sustain and protect me in the furnace. And should God not deliver me, like the three men said above, “If he does not” I will still serve no other god!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, you are able to bring me promotion from the very people who earlier have tried to destroy me! I can trust you to work out things for my good and your glory! Amen
