Pastor Leon’s SOAP: Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer
November 21: Matt 8-10
Scripture: Matthew (NIV) 8:24 Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25 The disciples whet and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”
26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves and it was completely calm. 27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”
Observation: They had been called from their fishing boats to follow Jesus who would make them fishers of men. Now they were with Him on a daily basis, hearing His teachings, watching His miracles. They knew him better than most people alive. But there was still so much to learn about Jesus. It was like they hardly knew Him!
Application: I find it the same way. It seems the more I know about Jesus the more there is to know. The closer I get to him, the more I learn about him. There is always something new. He still amazes me.
Prayer: Jesus, the more I learn about your vast power, the more I am amazed at how you are concerned about the little details in my life. Nothing is too big for you; nothing is too small for you! You are amazing! Amen
