Pastor Leon’s SOAP: Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer
December 11: Philemon; Hebrews 1-4
Scripture: Hebrews (NIV) 1:3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins (KJV when he had by himself purged our sins), he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
Observation: I dislike making a mistake for which afterward I have to clean up a mess. I dislike even more making a mistake for which someone else has to clean up my mess. It is a pride issue when I do not allow someone to help me clean up my mess. It is humbling when I have to rely on someone else. And that is what I have to do when it comes to my sins. Jesus took care of them for me by himself. There was no place for me on the cross with him. I must totally depend on Jesus to clean up the mess of my sinful life.
Application: In appreciation for what He has done for me, I “take up my cross” and die to my own desires that I may live out His desires for my life. The life Jesus lives in me is not the life of being tested and tempted. It is the victorious post resurrection life! The overcoming life He lives in me has already been tempted. The life in me has been road tested! It has been proven capable of overcoming sin!
Prayer: Jesus, thank you for carrying my sins to the cross and dying for me. Thank you for now living in me. Amen
