Learning from Children

Pastor Leon’s SOAP: Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer

March 2: Numbers 30-31; Mark 9

Scripture: Mark (NIV) 9:36 He took a little child and had him stand among them. Taking him in his arms, he said to them, 37 “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.”

Observation: Jesus pointed His disciples’ attention to the child. He made the child the center of attention.

Application: By involving me in children’s ministries for the past several months, I too have had my attention pointed to children. The Lord has directed my attention to the children in the Bible: Miriam (Moses’ sister), Naaman’s servant girl, Samuel, David, Paul’s nephew, the child Jesus used as an example, and the boy who gave his lunch to Jesus.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, continue to teach me from the children of the Bible, and from the children around me today. Make me a blessing to them. Help me grow in understanding as I watch them. Amen
