Living My Faith

July 23, 2015: SOAP #2058

Scripture: 1Peter (Message) 2:12 Live an exemplary life among the natives so that your actions will refute their prejudices. Then they’ll be won over to God’s side and be there to join in the celebration when he arrives.
2:15 It is God’s will that by doing good, you might cure the ignorance of the fools who think you’re a danger to society.

Observation: As our nation is going through cultural changes, Christianity seems to no longer have a most favored status. In the news media, in the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of our government, in institutions of “higher learning”—people who hold to God’s word and standard of holiness are seen as out of touch with today’s society. If there ever were scriptures relevant for today and the days ahead, it is these.

Application: Living in a world that is hostile to God’s standards, it is important for me to carefully honor God in the way I live. Not only is it important for me, it is important for them! They need to hear the truth and they need to see it lived. I experienced this when I left Central Bible College to join the US Navy. How I lived was as important as what I said.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, help me speak and live in a way that causes people to see what a mighty God I serve! Amen
