October 2, 2015:  SOAP #2129:

Scripture:  Psalm (NIV) 147:10 His [the LORD’s] pleasure is not in the strength of the horse, nor his delight in the legs of a man; 11 the LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.

Observation:  I like scriptures that reveal the character of God—His likes and dislikes, His preferences, what He enjoys, and what makes Him happy.  Surely on the earth there is much that breaks the heart of our loving Heavenly Father.  But there are some that specialize in bringing joy to His heart!   They may not be understood by others.  It may seem they do not accomplish much; but know for sure that they are greatly appreciated by our Heavenly Father!

Application:  Here is a chorus we used to sing in Hawaii: Lord, there’s just one thing; one thing I ask of Thee… Cause me to excel; Excel in loving Thee. There’s nothing in this world; that I would rather be Than by thy grace just one who excels in loving thee.

Prayer:   Lord, I want to be one who brings joy to your heart and a smile to your face.  Amen
