December 10, 2015:  SOAP #2198:  

Scripture:  2Timothy (NIV) 2:8 Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel, 9 for which I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But God’s word is not chained.

Observation:   Paul’s circumstances did not change God’s Word!   Having the unchained Word of God within, Paul had victory even when his physical body was chained.  The Word of God was more powerful than the prison in which Paul was confined.    His time in prison limited him from traveling throughout the known world.  His time in prison freed him to write letters that carried his ministry far beyond His day and the known world—all the way to the 21^st century and to places that were unknown in his day!   God’s Word was not chained in Paul’s day!

Application:   My circumstances do not change God’s Word!   My limitations do not limit God’s Word.  My physical body may be limited, but my spirit is unchained because it feeds on the unchained Word of God and abides in the Holy Spirit!  Limitations may reveal doors of ministry previously missed.   God’s Word is not chained in my day!

Prayer:   Lord, help me not to focus my thoughts on what limits me.  Help me to keep my mind on the freedom I have in Your Word and Spirit.  Amen
