February 10, 2016: SOAP #2260:
Scripture: Acts (NIV) 17:29 Therefore since we are God’s offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone— an image made by man’s design and skill.
Observation: Some people like to design their god in the way they think he should be. Their god looks at things the way they look at things. What is important to them is important to their god. What is not important to them is not important to their god. But, in truth, the opposite is reality. Man did not create God in man’s image BUT God created man in God’s image.
Application: Being created in God’s image, I find that my life works best when He is in control. Surrendering my choices to Him brings several desired results: First, it honors God. Second, it causes things to work together for my good. Third, it raises the level of my faith; God is actively working in my life!
Prayer: Lord, sin has destroyed many things, but it cannot destroy the potential I have to be your child. It cannot destroy your love for me. Though I cannot save myself, I can respond to the call of your Holy Spirit. You have designed me to be a living temple in which you live. What a great privilege is mine!!! Amen
