God’s Resting Place!

May 1, 2016: SOAP #2341: 1Chronicles 14, 15; Psalm 132; Matthew 18

Scripture: Psalm (NIV) 132:7 “Let us go to his dwelling-place; let us worship at his footstool— 8 arise, O LORD, and come to your resting place, you and the ark of your might. 9 May your priests be clothed with righteousness; may your saints sing for joy.”

Observation:   “Come to your resting place,” –a phrase I have heard many times but never given it much thought. This time, as I read this chapter, I realized that the ark had been traveling from one place to another. The tabernacle into which it was first placed was a mobile temple designed to be moved through the wilderness which it did for 40 years. David had now moved it to Jerusalem, to Mount Zion, to the tent he had prepared for it. There would be only one more move into Solomon’s Temple. Jerusalem was the resting place for the ark and God’s Presence.

Application: My life is to be a resting place for God. I have invited Him into my heart to stay! No more wondering who is Lord of Leon. No more wondering who is in control. My heart is to be a place of praise where God always enjoys the honor He is due.

Prayer:   Lord Jesus, I invite you to rule my life. I want you to be settled permanently in my life. I want my life to be your resting place. Amen
