July 25, 2016: SOAP #2426: Isaiah 43-45; 1Peter 4
Scripture: Isaiah (NIV) 43:16 This is what the LORD says—he who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters, 17 who drew out the chariots and horses, the army and reinforcements together, and they lay there, never to rise again, extinguished, snuffed out like a wick: 18 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. 19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.
Observation: What great things God did for Israel! We enjoy reading about them in the Old Testament. We enjoy reading about God’s hand at work in the establishing of the nation of Israel in 1948. It would be a shame to miss what God is doing today! Fields of fruit and vegetables growing in the desert. Amazing victories as they held off invading enemies. God uses Israel today to show the world that He is still very much interested in man and what is happening on the earth!
Application: The same God at work in Israel is at work in Leon. I too can look back at my history and see how the hand of God moved on my behalf. I enjoy sharing the testimonies. But I should not dwell on the past. God is still at work in my life. He is continually doing new things. It should cause me concern when I run out of current testimonies.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for what you have done in my past, but I want to live my life expecting you to be involved in my daily life. May my testimonies be current! Amen
