And again – Humilty

August 1, 2016: SOAP #2433: Isaiah 65-66; Psalm 62; John 3

Scripture: Isaiah (NIV) 66:1 This is what the LORD says: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Where is the house you will build for me? Where will my resting place be? 2 Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being?” declares the LORD. “This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at my word.

Observation:  King David greatly desired to build God a house for His Presence in Jerusalem. But here we read that God already had his favorite place to live. He loves being around humble people! The KJV reads, “to this one will I look.” I hear God saying, “To this one will I will value his presence and favorable consider what he says.”   What person has such a high place in God’s thinking? It is none other than a humble person who is quick to repent and greatly fears dishonoring God’s Word.

Application: The better I know how holy and loving God is, and the better I understand how sinful I can be, it is only logical that I be humble, quick to repent, and greatly loving God’s word. This just makes sense!

Prayer:   Holy Spirit, keep using your sledge hammer of conviction whenever I become prideful. Thank you for recently drawing my attention to so many passage on humility in my daily reading. Amen
