October 23, 2016: SOAP #2516: Job 13-14; Acts 17-18
Scripture: Acts (NIV) 18:9 One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision: “Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent. 10 For I am with you, and no-one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city.” 11 So Paul stayed for a year and a half, teaching them the word of God.
Observation: God did not always tell Paul to go; here God told Paul to stay. Paul was to continue doing what he was doing. Instead of moving on, like he usually did, Paul stayed a year and a half in Corinth.
Application: Many times I remember singing: “Not what I wish to be, nor where I wish to go; For who am I that I should choose my way? The Lord shall choose for me; tis better far I know; so, let Him bid me go or stay.” (I could not find the author of this song titled: Submission.)
Prayer: Lord, to do your will is my priority. I pray you find me faithful to do your will, to go or to stay—to change what I am doing or to continue do what I am doing. Amen
