Where I Am

September 20, 2017: SOAP #2848: Daniel 5-6; Psalm 130; Luke 3

Scripture:  Luke (NIV) 3:1 In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar— when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, Herod tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Iturea and Traconitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene—2 during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John son of Zechariah in the desert.

Observation:  John did not have to travel to a special place to meet God.  God knew exactly where John was.  John was in the desert, but God knew where he was and how to get there!

Application:  I am thankful that God knows where I am.  I may be separated from those I love and living in the wilderness, but God knows where I am.  The “word of God” can come to me as it did to John.  I may be home-bound or lying in a hospital room, but God knows.  He had GPS long before anyone put GPS in a vehicle.  God can find me stranded on a lightly-traveled country road.  God can find me in a traffic jam in a large city.

Prayer:   Holy Spirit, wherever I am, I want to recognize and respond to your voice.  “Speak my Lord; Speak my Lord; speak and I’ll be quick to answer Thee.  Speak my Lord; Speak my Lord; speak and I will answer, ‘Lord send me.’” George Bennard, 1873-1958 Amen
