December 13, 2018: SOAP #3297:  Philemon; Hebrews 9-11

Scripture:  Hebrews (NIV) 9:9 This is an illustration for the present time, indicating that the gifts and sacrifices being offered were not able to clear the conscience of the worshipper. …
14 How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!

Observation:  What a disappointment—to offer all the required sacrifices, give special offerings, keep all the holy days, yet still have a guilty conscience!

What a great blessing—to simply trust that Jesus’ sacrifice was so pure and holy that it covered my every sin and perfectly completed the required payment for my sin AND I end up with a clear conscience!

Application: By faith, I believe that God will consider Jesus’ death on the cross as payment for my sins.  Believing that He will do so, I ask Jesus to forgive my sins and invite Him to take up permanent residence in my heart/life.  His Presence assures me that He has forgiven me and establishes a clear conscience.  His forgiveness is so through that He treats me as though I had never sinned!!!  With all sinned removed, there is no basis for a guilty conscience!   I am so blessed!

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, thank you for a clear conscience!  Amen
