SCRIPTURE: 1Peter (NIV) 5:5 …All of you, clothe yourselves with humility towards one another, because, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.
7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
OBSERVATION: God’s hand is mighty, and God opposes the proud. But He gives grace and lifts up the humble.
How foolish to remain proud and to be humbled by “God’s mighty hand.
How wise to become humble and to be “lifted up” by that same hand!
APPLICATION: So the logical thing to do is to humble myself—to “clothe” myself with humility. Even in a place of authority and holding others accountable, I can be humble; I am there under God’s authority as His servant doing His will.
I am serving others who have the same value to God as I have. Jesus humbled Himself to serve them. May I see them as Jesus sees them.
PRAYER: Holy Spirit, bring these verses to my mind as I go through this day. Show me how to live out these verses in carrying out the particular tasks assigned me. Amen.
