Rejoicing Compared to Rejoicing

Scripture: 1Chronicles (NIV) 15:28 So all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouts, with the sounding of rams’ horns and trumpets, and of cymbals, and the playing of lyres and harps.

Observation: The ark was the most sacred piece of furniture in the world. It was the place where God would meet with man. It had been lost in battle and stored in a home, but now David was bring it to Jerusalem. He had pitched a tent on Mount Zion where it would be the center of their worship until a temple could be built. Bringing the ark into Jerusalem was a time of great rejoicing in Israel.

Application: Bringing the ark into Jerusalem was a reason for joy in Israel. But Luke 15:10 reads, “…there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” I am thinking that the rejoicing in Israel could not be compared with the rejoicing in heaven! I can only read about the rejoicing when the ark entered Jerusalem, but I get to participate in the rejoicing when a sinner repents!!!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, what a privilege is mine to participate with the rejoicing in heaven when a sinner repents. Holy Spirit, use me to lead sinners to repentance. Amen
