April 12, 2016: SOAP #2322:
Scripture: 2Corinthians (NIV) 12:9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Observation: Recently my attention has been drawn to the word “delight.” In the Bible there are many reason for us to “delight” in God. We even see that God “delights” in us. In the above verse we are given a reason to “delight” even in our weaknesses and even in times when people mistreat us. It is then we are really strong.
Application: My weakness is the opportunity for God to work through me in a way that only He gets the glory. When people see what God does through my weakness and limitation, they easily recognize that it had to be God at work. They join me in giving God the glory!
Prayer: Holy Spirit, thank you for using me. May you find me willing and available to do as you lead. May I not shrink back from trouble but move ahead in faith, eagerly anticipating that you will do what only you can do! Amen
